6th Radovljica International Piano Competition (Slovenia) – Live Rounds in 2025

About the Competition:
Organized by the Kamna House Cultural and Art Association, a member of the Argerich Foundation. Established in 2019, held annually except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Categories (Age as of October 31, 2025):

  • Junior A: 11 years old and under

  • Junior B: 12–14 years old

  • Youth: 15–18 years old

  • Advanced: 19–28 years old

Note: Participants may choose to compete in an age group higher than their own.


Application Materials:

  1. Completed application form

  2. Scanned copy of passport (main page)

  3. Repertoire list

  4. Artistic résumé or biography

  5. Parental consent form (for minors)

  6. Scanned copy of the original score of a work by a composer from an Ibero-American country

  7. One digital photo (passport-style or artistic photo)

  8. Application Fee:

    • Junior A & B: €60

    • Youth: €70

    • Advanced: €80

Note: "Ibero-American countries" refer to the 22 nations including Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries of Latin America, as well as Spain, Portugal, and Andorra. See below for a list of representative composers.


Repertoire Requirements:

General Rules:
All repertoire must be performed from memory. Repeats are optional at the discretion of the performer.


Junior A (8–12 minutes):

  • One or more freely chosen pieces

  • One work by a composer from an Ibero-American country

Junior B (15–25 minutes):

  • One work by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, or Clementi (may be a single movement from a sonata)

  • One work by a composer from an Ibero-American country

  • One or more freely chosen pieces

Youth (25–35 minutes):

  • One work by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, or Clementi (may be a single movement from a sonata)

  • One work by a composer from an Ibero-American country

  • One or more freely chosen pieces

Advanced: Two Rounds

First Round (15–20 minutes):

  • One virtuosic étude

  • One work by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, or Clementi (may be a single movement from a sonata)

  • One work by a composer from an Ibero-American country

  • One or more freely chosen pieces to meet the time requirement

Final Round (30–40 minutes):

  • Freely chosen repertoire (must not repeat works from the first round). Complete sonatas are allowed.


Notes:

  1. Required Ibero-American Work – Examples of eligible composers include (but are not limited to):
    Isaac Albéniz, Casilda Borges Barbosa, Sergio Calligaris, Manuel de Falla, Alberto Ginastera, Enrique Granados, Mozart Camargo Guarnieri, Carlos Guastavino, Mauricio Kagel, Federico Mompou, Ernesto Lecuona, Xavier Montsalvatge, Astor Piazzolla, Antonio Soler, Joaquín Turina, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Ferran López Carrascosa.

    Other composers from the same geographical region are acceptable. Please include a copy of the score and a short biography of the composer with your application.

  2. Repertoire list must include:
    Full names of composers (with birth and death dates), title of the piece, opus/catalogue number, key, and movement(s) being performed.


Awards:

  • 1st Prize: 95–100 points

  • 2nd Prize: 90–94.99 points

  • 3rd Prize: 85–89.99 points
    All participants will receive a certificate of participation. Ties will be awarded jointly.


Prizes:

  • Junior A 1st Prize: €200

  • Junior B 1st Prize: €300

  • Youth 1st Prize: €500 + a concert performance

  • Advanced 1st Prize: €2000 (City of Radovljica Prize) + concert in Radovljica + concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina

  • Advanced 2nd Prize: €1000 + a concert

  • Advanced 3rd Prize: €500 + a concert

  • Special Awards:

    • Filippo Trevisan Special Prize: €1000

    • Most Promising Pianist: €200

Concerts may take place in Italy or Slovenia.


Additional Information:

  • Performance order is alphabetical by surname. The first performer is selected by the organizing committee.

  • Practice pianos will be provided.

  • Performances are open to the public.

  • Concert repertoire will be determined by the jury.

  • The jury reserves the right to stop a performance if it exceeds the time limit.

  • Up to 8 competitors may advance to the final round in the Advanced category.

  • Results will be announced after the completion of each category.

  • Prize-winners will perform in the Winners’ Concert and are required to participate or risk disqualification.

  • 1st Prize winners will be invited to perform at the opening concert of the next edition.

  • Winners must confirm acceptance of prizes within one month.

  • The organizing committee reserves the right to record and photograph performances for promotional use. Participants are not entitled to compensation. Any reproduction or publication of recordings is prohibited without written consent from the organizers.
