4° International Music Competition "Città di Cervignano"

RULES

1. Competition

The 4th International Music Competition “Città di Cervignano”, organized by the AGM Music Academy (AGM Association), aims to promote the study of classical music, enhance international exchange, and develop local resources. The competition is open to musicians under the age of 30, regardless of nationality. It is held annually.

2. Competition Sections and Age Categories

The competition is divided into four sections: Piano, Violin, Flute and Chamber Music. Each section has different age categories based on the participant’s age. Individual musicians are allowed to participate in more than one section and, in the Chamber Music category, in different formations (such as duos, trios, and quintets).

Piano Section (PIANOFORTE)

  • Category A0: Born after 2012 (up to 13 years old)

  • Category A: Born between 2008 and 2011 (ages 14-17)

  • Category B: Born between 2003 and 2007 (ages 18-22)

  • Category C: Born between 1995 and 2002 (ages 23-30)

Violin Section (VIOLINO)

  • Category A0: Born after 2012 (up to 13 years old)

  • Category A: Born between 2008 and 2011 (ages 14-17)

  • Category B: Born between 2003 and 2007 (ages 18-22)

  • Category C: Born between 1995 and 2002 (ages 23-30)

Flute Section (FLAUTO)

  • Category A0: Born after 2012 (up to 13 years old)

  • Category A: Born between 2008 and 2011 (ages 14-17)

  • Category B: Born between 2003 and 2007 (ages 18-22)

  • Category C: Born between 1995 and 2002 (ages 23-30)

Chamber Music Section (MUSICA DA CAMERA)

  • Category A: Born after January 1, 2012

  • Category B: Born after January 1, 2007

  • Category C: Born after January 1, 1995

Each participant must be of the required age.

3. Competition Procedure and Locations

The Chamber Music section selection will take place in person. The Piano, Violin, and Flute sections will hold preliminary rounds online, while semifinals and finals will take place in person in Cervignano del Friuli (UD) or surrounding cities, as designated by the AGM Association. All competitions will follow the schedule outlined below, with the jury scoring the performances:

Piano Section (PIANOFORTE)

  • June 2, 2025: Deadline for submitting preliminary round videos

  • September 25-26, 2025: Semifinals and Finals in person

  • September 26, 2025: Winners’ Concert

Violin Section (VIOLINO)

  • June 2, 2025: Deadline for submitting preliminary round videos

  • September 26-27, 2025: Semifinals and Finals in person

  • September 27, 2025: Winners’ Concert

Flute Section (FLAUTO)

  • June 2, 2025: Deadline for submitting preliminary round videos

  • September 18-19, 2025: Auditions in person

4. Repertoire Requirements

Execution by heart is not required. The selected repertoire must not be modified, unless a written notification is sent to the competition office by September 1, 2025 (Monday). Non-complete works (e.g., a single movement of a sonata) are allowed.

Chamber Music Section (MUSICA DA CAMERA) – Categories, Repertoire, and Performance Time:

Category A: Born after January 1, 2012

Free Program, up to 10 minutes

Category B: Born after January 1, 2007

Free Program, up to 15 minutes

Category C: Born after January 1, 1995

Divided into two rounds:

◦ Preliminary Round: Free choice of program, up to 10 minutes

◦ Finals (up to 6 participating ensembles): Free choice of program, up to 30 minutes

Chamber music ensembles can range from duos to a maximum of 12 members. Only one piano may be included in the ensemble. The use of electronic instruments and amplification equipment is prohibited, as is the use of prepared pianos. The competition organizers will provide one piano and up to 12 music stands. Participants are required to bring their own music stands for rehearsals and to carry all necessary instruments/accessories. Any other instruments required must be provided by the participants themselves. Arrangements and adaptations of already published works are allowed. Improvised performances are not permitted.

5. Auditions:

Participants will rehearse according to the competition schedule. The rehearsal schedule for eachcategory will be published by September 10, 2025, and the auditions will be open to the public, compatible with available space. To find out the date and time of their rehearsal, participants can contact the competition office (email: concorso@agmaccademia.com) or check the official website. Participants will be required to present themselves at the time of the whole category call with their identity documents. The Maximum punctuality is requested and any delays will only be admitted at the sole discretion of the Jury, before the closing of the minutes relating to their category. The results of the selection process will be announced after the jury’s evaluation.

6. Jury:

The appointed Jury will be composed by professors from conservatories, professional musicians and orchestra professors. The Jury will express its vote in hundredths after a collective discussion. The Jury members, who have or had an educational relationship with candidates in the two years preceding the start date of the same, can participate in the discussion but not in the evaluation of the same.

The direction reserves the right to replace the announced members of the Jury or form a double commission for the section based on the logistical needs of the competition.

The Jury members are open to meet candidates for a brief comment on the performances after the awards ceremony.

7. Scores and Awards:

  • The overall winner in each category will be the participant who achieves the highest score

  • with at least 98/100.

  • The first prize is awarded to participants with a score of at least 95/100.

  • The second prize is awarded to participants with a score of at least 90/100.

  • The third prize is awarded to participants with a score of at least 85/100.

For Categories A0, A, and B, second and third prizes will be awarded after the jury’s evaluation. All overall and first-place winners from all categories will be invited to perform at the Winners’ Concert and will receive their award during the concert. In addition, the absolute winners, first, second, and third place winners of Category C are invited to receive the award at the Winners’ Concert.

  • 500 EUR cash prize, awarded to the entire ensemble.

Category C: First prize:

  • 1000 EUR cash prize, awarded to the entire ensemble.

  • Concert provided by the competition organizers.

8. Registration:

For Piano, Violin, and Flute Sections:

Pre-registration forms can be submitted from March 3, 2025, to June 2, 2025. Participants must fill out the registration form on the official competition website and provide proof of pre-registration payment and, if applicable, links to the online preliminary round videos. The preliminary round video should be a full-body recording, with the entire performance completed in one take, without edits. Before performing, participants should announce their name, piece, and the competition title: International Music Competition “Città di Cervignano” 2025. Videos should be uploaded to YouTube and submitted as a link (choose “unlisted” or “public” mode). Preliminary results will be published by June 30, 2025 on the website. Following successful completion of the preliminary round, registration will be continued by July 14, 2025.

For Chamber Music Category:

Registrations can be submitted from March 3, 2025, to July 14, 2025. Registration is done online through the competition website. If a category is full, the organizers have the right to stop accepting registrations. Registration will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

9. Registration Fees:

For Piano, Violin, and Flute Sections:

Pre-registration:

  • Preliminary round fee: 30 EUR

In-person registration fee (for participants who pass the preliminary round):

  • Group A0: 30 EUR

  • Group A: 40 EUR

  • Group B: 50 EUR

  • Group C: 60 EUR

For Chamber Music Section:

  • Category A: 30 EUR per participant, fixed fee of 180 EUR for ensembles of 6-12 members (entire group)

  • Category B: 40 EUR per participant, fixed fee of 240 EUR for ensembles of 6-12 members (entire group)

  • Category C: 50 EUR per participant, fixed fee of 300 EUR for ensembles of 6-12 members (entire group)

For Piano Accompaniment:

Participants can bring their own pianist or request piano accompaniment from the organizers. If

participants request accompaniment from the competition organizers, an additional fee will apply:

  • Categories A0, A: 50 EUR

  • Categories B, C:70 EUR

When applying for piano accompaniment, the fee must be paid at the same time as filling out the registration form, and the registration must be completed by July 14, 2025. If the submitted scores are received after the deadline, the organizer cannot guarantee the availability of the accompanying pianist. Participants may rehearse with the accompanist the day before or on the day of the competition. The specific rehearsal schedule will be announced three days prior to the competition.

Participants from outside the EU can pay the registration fee via PayPal to the account: agmaccademia@outlook.com. All bank, PayPal, and postal charges are the responsibility of the participants.

Non-Refundable Fees

• Once paid, the registration fee and piano accompanist fee are non-refundable unless the competition is canceled or a specific category is not held.

10. Common regulation

Competitors can enroll in a Category equal to or higher than their age. Previous overall winners or first-place winners may register only for a higher category. For each Category there is a maximum duration limit which does not oblige Competitors to arrive at. In the event that the execution exceeds these limits, the Commission may interrupt the execution. The final judgment will be final in all cases.

11. Final regulation

The organization provides to competitors a room for practice upon request, if it’s possible. Candidates are required to supply all other instruments useful for their performances. Registration of the competition implies full acceptance of the Rules contained in the Regulations. The registration fees for the competition include the membership card. The organization of the competition does not assume responsibility for any risks or damages of any nature to people or things during the event. The Competition Direction may take any decision not specified in the announcement regarding the organization of the Competition itself.

12. Privacy Policy

At the time of registration, participants must provide consent for the publication of photos and videos.
